【明報專訊】After an MTR train dropped its door last month, a suspected decoupling incident happened yesterday (5 December), leaving more than a thousand people with no choice but to walk on the tracks to evacuate. The new accident happened during the morning rush hour, and fortunately no casualties were caused. However, railway safety cannot be left to chance. Both of the serious accidents that have happened within a month to the MTR point to inadequacies with the repair and maintenance of hardware. If the investigations into the two accidents are only focused on technical aspects, it will be easy to overlook the management issues that might have been involved.
