【明報專訊】THROUGHOUT the big debate about land supply, there was call after call for the government's requisition of the Fanling Golf Course. The Hong Kong Alliance of Golfers, however, claims that almost 80% of golf lovers and people in the business are opposed to the complete closure of the course. We believe the golf course should be taken back not because finding land to put up housing is definitely incompatible with golf as a sport. It is because the Fanling Golf Course is so exclusive it is no different from a club for the rich. The alliance's suggestions of prolonging the public opening hours and lowering the entrance fees for young and elderly people are inadequate to tackle the fundamental problem — that the course provides privileges for a minority of people.
