Editorial﹕Easing of ban on Japanese food

【明報專訊】THE TSUNAMI that struck Japan on 11 March 2011 triggered a nuclear disaster. Seven years on, the HKSAR government is suggesting that the ban on the import of Japanese food be eased. In recent years, the Japanese government has combined hard tactics with soft ones and demanded that governments around the world lift their bans on Japanese food. Judging solely from government data and information, the easing of the ban does not seem to pose a high food safety risk. However, the public's misgivings about nuclear radiation will not be easily dispelled.
