【明報專訊】Catherine Symons (1918-2004) was half British, half Chinese: a Eurasian （歐亞混血兒）. She described herself as "the blood of Old China mixed with that of Europe". She was the third of five children. Her grandfather had been a translator at the Supreme Court. Conscientious（謹小慎微）Catherine studied hard at school and achieved excellent results. She grew into a beautiful woman with black hair and dark eyes.
