【明報專訊】IT was brought to light some time ago that City University of Hong Kong (CityU) had submitted to Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) a number of students that was markedly different from the University Grant Committee figure — that was 4,000 smaller. One of the criteria QS uses in ranking universities is the teacher-student ratio. Theoretically, the more teachers and researchers and the fewer students a university has, the likelier it will rank high. Some suspect CityU to have submitted a smaller number — sought to boost its ranking by making its teacher-student ratio smaller. CityU has categorically denied that.
