However, almost a thousand Hong Kong students planning to study in the UK are now on tenterhooks and are spending every day anxiously. The reason is that the processing of their student visa applications has been seriously delayed, which threatens to scupper their plans to study in Britain. Some students have been notified by their universities that as they have failed to report to the universities on time, their first semester will have to be postponed by a year.
