【明報專訊】THE 11TH OF THIS MONTH marks the 15th anniversary of China's entry into the World Trade Organisation (WTO). As stated in the agreement for the entry, in China's first 15 years in the WTO, China would be classified as a "non-market economy". Now that 15 years has passed, China's "Market Economy Status" (MES) has become a major area of contention between China and Western countries. If the disagreements cannot be resolved, the issue could become a new trigger point for a trade war between China and the US — or even the world — when Donald Trump is sworn in as the next US president next month.
