【明報專訊】"Some birds are more valuable than others," Matilda said. "My little canary (金絲雀) is priceless." Matilda is talking about her pet bird, but that's not what is meant by a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. This is a proverb that originated with hunters. It says that we should be satisfied with what we have and not risk losing it for something we imagine will be better. "That's why I'm happy with my little canary — even though it doesn't sing," Matilda smiled. "To me he's worth two in the bush."
