【明報專訊】A bazaar will be set up in Tin Yiu Estate, Tin Shui Wai, so that small retailers may do business there. Seen against the controversy over the mode of operation in shopping malls and wet markets under Link REIT's banner and its effects on residents' lives, the bazaar in Tin Yiu Estate can be called a positive development. That said, even if the bazaar goes into operation, it will be subject to a plethora of restraints on aspects like operation hours and goods to be sold, not to mention Link REIT's final say in whether the bazaar will be launched. Seen in this light, the idea will meet some needs of residents of some public rental housing (PRH) estates. But it will not go a long way towards addressing the drawbacks brought about by the change in the nature of PRH malls and markets and the inconvenience it has caused residents.
