【明報專訊】ZHANG DEJIANG, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, is to arrive in Hong Kong this afternoon (May 17), a first for a senior official of the central government since Premier Li Keqiang's visit in 2011. A multitude of events have happened in Hong Kong over the past six years. The political situation has undergone a rapid change, making the political dilemma increasingly difficult. Furthermore, the Hong Kong economy is in the worst shape since the handover. At a time when Hong Kong is in disarray and its prosperity and stability are confronted with a challenge, we hope that Zhang's trip will carry a positive message and improve Hong Kong people's confidence in the future.
