【明報專訊】THE CORONER hearing the case of Law Cheuk-ki, a primary five student of CCC Kei Chun Primary School who fell to her death, has delivered an open verdict after hearing the testimonies. In other words, it has not been possible to determine whether Law died in an accident or misadventure or of a natural cause. According to some lawyers, the police will reinvestigate the case, meaning that it has not ended. In delivering the verdict, the coroner lambasted high-ranking staff members of the school. Rarely do coroners use such strong words as he did. Will the people involved reflect on what they have done and make amends to the victim, her family as well as the public? Will the school's sponsoring body bring about a shake-up of it? These questions all merit our attention.
