【明報專訊】Here's an idiom that can be used to describe almost anything. It's a fine-feathered (something), and it could be a fine-feathered friend / day / morning — or even a fine-feathered idiom — for it means "nice" or "wonderful". This comes from a proverb, "Fine feathers (羽毛) make fine birds," meaning a well-dressed (衣冠楚楚的) person is a fine person. Over time that notion (觀念) began to apply to just about anything. "One fine-feathered day I hope I'll be able to learn all the idioms in this book!"
